What's good for the goose, isn't necessarily good for the gander

"Not every contact/person is the same. About 80% oaysis, 20% air optix, why?
Diameter - contact too big/small
Curvature - suction type effect that you can feel in your eye.
Material - allergies
Water content, breathability - eye/environment reactions

We all argue that our contacts are better than the other. It's because we are all experiencing our own comfort that the other can't understand.

Bottom line, different eyes, different contacts needed."  (Add a comment)

Air Optix

"Very disappointed with the news lens. the Night & Day were the only lens on the market that worked for my dry eyes. The Air optix do not work at all. Always getting dry and sticky, can't wear them all day at all. Makes going out in the evening very difficult. Please bring back Night & Day."  (Add a comment)

These suck

"Wore the Focus N/D and loved them. Those got discontinued and tried these. These are terrible. Same problems as reported by everyone else. I will NEVER use Air Optix again, new "formula" or not. I have switched to Coopervision's Biofinity."  (Add a comment)

VERY BAD for the eyes

"I have been using the old model for more than 10 years, and switching to the new lens is so awfull. After only a few hours my eyes hurts, and my vision is no longer clear.

AWFULL lens, give us back the old lenses!!

New Formula

"I have to agree with so many other reviews. I used the day and night contacts for a long time and absolutely loved them. It felt like I wasn't even wearing contacts. Unfortunately, since they changed the formula, I have changed contacts. The new ones are TERRIBLE. they are so uncomfortable that I had to go back to glasses for a week to let my eyes rest. I tried to get used to them, but don't even waste your time.

let's hope they go back to the old formula. :("  (Add a comment)

Air Optix major irritation

"I used to buy Focus night and day and they were great. These Air Optix night and day have been killing my eyes. I plan to return them to my optometrist ASAP."  (Add a comment)

Air Optix no match for Focus N&D's

"Loved the Focus N&D's. Wore them for more than 10 years with little or no problem. The Air Optix are uncomfortable after only a day or two of wearing. N&D's lasted for 30 days before replacing. Cleaned only once per week. Air Optix is lasting only 2+ weeks, cleaning every other day and sometimes once or twice during the day. Dryness and gunk accumulation like I never had before. Get a trial before purchasing!"  (Add a comment)

Air Optix Are Great, but..

"They are really good, much more clear and crispy vision than Acuvue Oasis and Avayra.  I dont know which kind of multipurpose solution is "popular" in your contries, but here in Brazil, "Renu Plus - Fresh Lens Comfort", "Opti-Free - Replenish" and "Opti-Free Express" are the most used. BUT, when i use Renu Plus or Opti-free Replenish with these extended wear contact lenses my eyes get dry, blur and red, especially the left eye. So, I'm only using Opti-free EXPRESS and had no problem anymore."   (Add a comment)

"just wanted to tell you that RENU solutions have boric acids which can cause the redness and dryness of the eyes. I use the Complete multipurpose solution because it is without the boric acid. Good luck."

Not good

"I have to add what many others are saying; the Night and Day were fine. These cause irritation and create goop in the eye. Very disappointed in the brand overall."   (Add a comment)

CIBA really let us down!

"I used the old Focus Night & Day contacts for years and thought they were perfect. Well, I ran out of the old ones, and the doc gave me the new Air Optix Night & Day Aqua and it was like "night and day". The new contacts are extremely uncomfortable and unusable. I have tried to contact CIBA but they do not reply. 1) How could they force such a change on patients/customers? and 2) How could they not communicate ANYTHING relevant about this?"    (Add a comment)

not for me

"I wanted to love these Air Optix mutifocals after reading about them. Even went and specifically asked my doctor to try them. But they are not for me. Itchy and uncomfortable from the moment I put them in, but my vision is good with them. Guess it is back to my Proclear Multifocals."    (Add a comment)

"I had used the previous Night&Day for years without problems. Long story short - after many phone calls, denials, hassles, etc. someone admitted that the etching of the word "OK" on the new Air Optix Aqua lenses was too deep, causing the exact problems so many have suddenly been exposed to. Supposedly the manufacturing was changed as far back as July '09, but it seems distributors, such as 1-800-contacts still had the older batch in stock; at least as recent as November '09.  (Add a comment)

Air Optix Aqua

"When you try the Air optix Aqua for the first time, you need to wait between 7 and 10 days to be confortable with, your eye need to have a reaction, moreover if you wore in the past some hydrogel lenses
If you ve still problem, you need to change the cleaning product, the best are the Peroyde (like Aosept)
The N&D and the Air optix aren t the same, if you want compare N&D you need to try the N&D Aqua...
Good trial"  (Add a comment)

Horrible

"I have been wearing contact lenses for 12 years and Air optix night and day are the WORST. These contacts should be taken off the market! I could barely keep them in for an hour..they hurt immediately and my eyes were itchy, red, and gunky (like others said). These contacts are not for anyone who has allergies or dry eyes. I tried Biofinity lenses after my horrible experience with air optix and they are great."  (Add a comment)

not even close to being as good as the old ones

"I could wear the focus Night and Day for 30 days straight without taking them out at all. No problems. Then these new and improved version arrived. I would wake up with gunk in my eyes, and they itched and burned and just weren't comfortable from the start. I have had to switch brands."   (Add a comment)

Bit scratchy

"I was recommended by my optician to change to Air Optix from my Focus dailies because I wear them for soo many hours, however I have found that working on a laptop indoor starts them irritating and scratchy after oly a few hours wear, however outdoors, I have found them much better. For me they just are not comfortable enought to wear during the business day never mind a full day"    (Add a comment)

Awful compared to the old Night and Days

"I've been wearing the Night and Days with great results for about five years now. These were discontinued, and replaced with the Air Optix Night & Day's. I used to go 15+ days easily before a cleaning with the old lenses. The new ones are HORRIBLE, and I don't last more than 2-3 hours and end up with irritated eyes for another day. My practitioner got me a pair from a new batch that were thought to perhaps be better, and the right lens seemed ok, but the left was the same miserable experience."     (Add a comment)

The old ones were so much better

"I wore the Night & Day version of this lens for years and they were awesome. My eye doctor switched me to Air Optix late this summer, and I just can't wear them. The lenses get filmy, require rewetting multiple times a day, and if I wear them more than 2 days in a row my eyes become quite irritated. I'm giving up and switching over to Accuvue lenses. Such a shame. If Ciba Vision ever brings back the Night & Day version, they will win me back as a customer."     (Add a comment)

Air Optix Aqua - Night & Day

"I've been wearing Focus Day & Night for 3 years. My doctor told me they're discontinued and replaced with Air Optix Night & Day. My doctor gave me a sample pair. It made my eyes itchy and very uncomfortable. I thought it was defective pairs. I ordered a box and the problem still exists. I really like Focus Night & Day and hope that the manufacture still produce them."    (Add a comment)

The Worst Experience

"These are the worst contacts that I have ever worn. The old kind were wonderful. I never noticed them. These fog up, cause gunk in my eyes, and even make my eyes feel bad when I have my glasses on. (It takes a day for my eyes to feel normal again after I take them out.) I recommend these to no one. I am miserable."  (Add a comment)

Same problem

"I have used the Night and Day lenses for years with no problem and now these new "Air Optix" things are KILLING me. I thought it was just a bad pair, but I've tried three different pairs now and they ALL suck. They make my eyes SOOOO dry and make my eyes produce lots of discharge. I'm so sad because I loved the Night and Day lenses, but these new ones are UNWEARABLE."   (Add a comment)

Air Optix

"I've been wearing toric lenses for 20 years from 6 am to 10 pm with no problems. I wore my trial pair of Air Optix for 5 hours. They were so uncomfortable, even after rinsing and cleaning twice, that I won't wear them again. My eye doctor made them sound like they would be the next best thing to sliced bread, and I am just so darn disappointed....." (Add a comment)

horrible!

"I have been wearing these contacts for about 3 years. The older version was AMAZING and I absolutely loved them. Now that the newer version has come out, I have to change them frequently due to fuzziness and they create goop in my eyes at night. I do not recommend these contacts to anyone and I will be switching." (Add a comment)

Not as good as the old ones

"I have been a contact user for over 20 years and have never had a problem until now. I have used this brand for over a year and just ordered a new supply. I put them in and starting having problem with blurry vision and had to take them out a clean them. I had one old contact and placed it in my left eye and it was fine while the right eye, with the new contact, was bad. I am not one that writes reviews and understand they may work for some people but for me the new version is very bad." (Add a comment)

Not so great...

"My optometrist changed me to these. I wore the first pair he gave me and they fit great! had no problems. The next day they started getting REALLY itchy, and very very cloudy. So I took them out for the day and wore my glasses. Put them in the next day... same problem. Super itchy and made my eyes VERY uncomfortable. I thought it might have been that pair for some reason, so I tried another pair. Same problem. I do not recommend them to anyone. Nice at first, brutal later." (Add a comment)

Air Optix Aqua vs Oasys

"I have ordered both brands and find them both to be satisfactory. I wear my contacts from 7AM until midnight most days, however, and find that the Air Optix Aqua seems to be easier on my eyes later on in the day (my vision seems to remain the same while my Oasys lens seem to cause my vision to deteriorate somewhat.)" Air Optix Aquas

"I have been a contact user for more that 9 years using all kinds (30 days, two weeks, & dailies). I bought a year supply of the Air Optix Aquas and had the same problem as described on this blog. I had to take them out 2 to 3 times a day just get clear them of the gunk. I have now switched to dailies (doctors recommendation) and have had no problems. I blame the Aqua lenses and do not recommend them." (Add a comment)

New Air Optix NOT as good as the older version

"I have been using the Night & Day version for many years and the new versions are not nearly as good. I used to be able to wear my old lenses a week at a time before taking them out. These new lenses get gunky and scratchy so I have to take them out every day and sometimes 2 or 3 times per day. I will be asking to for some of the older version or I will have to look for a new brand. I hate to do it because I LOVED the older version. Not any more. I am very sad." (Add a comment)

I cannot live without contacts.

"I’m near-sighted though, so I don’t think my advice counts for much if anything. I started out wearing Acuvues for a long time, but fairly recently switched to O2 Optix and I like them loads better. I needed them though because I wear my contacts CONSTANTLY and I was having problems with my eyes not getting enough oxygen. They’re hard at first (I had all these elaborate rituals and special towels to dry my hands with to minimize dust). Now they’re second nature and so fast and easy."  (Add a comment)

Air Optix Aqua Review (by professional)

"A good friend and I attended the Big Ten Tournament at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis last night to watch Indiana University play against Penn State.  He was wearing contact lenses for the first time in about 15 years.  This guy was one of those people who tried contact lenses years early on, had a bad experience and decided to give them up due to dry eyes, discomfort, etc, the usual reasons for not wearing contact lenses.

We were talking a while back and I explained to him the many improvements that have come about in contact lenses over the years.... After our conversation, he decided to go to our Doctor Tavel office on the south side of Indianapolis for a free trial set of lenses.

As it turns out, he decided to try a new lens from CIBA Vision, the Air Optix Aqua.  This lens is a 30 day wear contact lens and is priced affordably for those patients looking for true vision value.  He was absolutely blown away at how much better these contacts felt compared to his last experience.  Not only that, but his vision is great with this new product..."   (Add a comment)

Air Optix Aquas are great

"When Air Optix Aqua first came out I was surprised to see how contact lens technology had advanced... I have been wearing lenses for almost 6 years and - with this new lens - not once had eye irritations. My optician described them for extended wear which means I can keep them in for as long as I want - as long as I take them out before sleeping. She also said these are very high quality lenses. So far, I never had problems with these contacts."   (Add a comment)

My optician changed my contacts...

"...about a year ago to "air optix" ones. They are a bit thicker by touch (not by prescription), so they are easy to get out - and they let a lot more air in, thereby stopping the dry eye situation. I have a similar problem to you-been wearing contacts for some 20 odd years now and my eyes do dry out more. However since switching to these newer lenses (they contain silicon), they are much more comfortable and my eyes are definitely better. The contacts are monthly disposible though so it does entail using the old soaking solution. I pay £21 a month. I guess its worth it??!! I have recently had to have new glasses however and this again is a whole different ball game. Good to give your eyes a rest sometimes. Good luck."   (Add a comment)
