We almost overlooked it, but when reading the entire transcript from the Q3 earnings call, we noticed an important piece of information related to 1-DAY ACUVUE® TruEye®. Alex Gorsky - Worldwide Chairman of the Medical Devices & Diagnostics Group, made a comment as to when 1-DAY ACUVUE® TruEye® will be available in the US.
Here is what he said:
"...Since 1987 when we introduced the world’s first disposable contact lens under the ACUVUE® brand name, Johnson & Johnson vision care has continued to maintain its leadership position with the launch of numerous innovative eye care products. Today ACUVUE® remains the world’s most widely prescribed contact lens.
1-DAY ACUVUE® TruEye® is the world’s first daily disposable silicone hydrogel and the most exciting breakthrough in contact lens technology in years. It is the world’s first lens to deliver on all four dimensions of eye health shown on this slide, to particularly suit today’s patients with busy, demanding and active lifestyles. 1-DAY ACUVUE® TruEye® was launched in the UK in August 2008 followed by numerous other countries outside the US markets in the second quarter of this year. A US launch is planned for the second and third quarters of next year which will enable us to maximize the global learning’s of our outside United States launches...."
Thanks for the update Mr. Gorsky. We already had quite a few readers asking when they would be able to try these break-through lenses here in the US.
