Comparison Highlights PRECISION7 and TOTAL30
PRECISION7 and TOTAL30 are both premium silicone hydrogel contact lenses from Alcon, but they cater to different wear schedules and user preferences. PRECISION7, released in January 2025, is designed for weekly replacement and supports extended wear up to 6 nights. In contrast, TOTAL30, launched in 2021, follows a monthly replacement schedule and is meant for daily wear only.
Both lenses share several technical similarities: identical prescription ranges, base curves (8.4 mm), diameters (14.2 mm), water content (55%), center thickness (0.08 mm), and modulus (0.6 MPa). They also both belong to FDA Group V-B and offer Class 1 UV protection and light blue-green visibility tints.
The main differences lie in material and technology: PRECISION7 uses Serafilcon A with Activ-Flo Technology to enhance moisture for extended wear, while TOTAL30 uses Lehfilcon A featuring Celligent, a surface technology that resists protein buildup, ensuring a clear and comfortable vision for longer periods. In addition, their water gradient technology resists deposits and mimic the eye’s surface. TOTAL30 also incorporates phosphoryl choline (PC) for wetting, whereas PRECISION7 uses PVP and PEO-PBO.
Cost-wise, PRECISION7 and TOTAL30 are similar with a cost range around $0.36 to $0.44 per day. However, PRECISION7 offers more pack size options (12 or 27 lenses), giving users more flexibility in purchasing.
