A comparison of Biotrue ONEday and DAILIES AquaComfort Plus. What are the differences? Detailed specifications shown side by side comparing material, technical and prescription parameters, special features, and daily cost.
Comparison Highlights
The Biotrue brand is a well-known contact lens brand introduced in 2014 by Bausch+Lomb (B+L) with the first Biotrue product Biotrue ONEday. B+L also added a multifocal Biotrue and a toric version later, as well as a Biotrue multi-purpose lens cleaning solution. As the name suggests, Biotrue ONEday and DAILIES AquaComfort Plus are daily disposable lenses for one-time use. DAILIES AquaComfort Plus is produced and sold by Alcon and - similar to the Biotrue lenses - you can also get a multifocal or a toric DAILIES AquaComfort for astigmatism. The two lenses use a nonionic hydrogel material with a high-water content above the 68% mark. While Biotrue ONEday offers UV blocking and an aspherical shape, you won't find these features in the DAILIES AquaComfort Plus. Besides, Biotrue ONEday's ability to let oxygen pass through to your cornea is sixteen points higher than what the spec sheet for the DAILIES AquaComfort lenses states. The cost of wearing any of the two lenses is comparable and in the 56-89 cents-per-day range for each eye. That is quite a wide range and patients doing their price comparison homework can save a lot of money.
