Contact lenses that are highly breathable while maintaining a high level of moisture are the holy grail of contact lens technology. A lot has changed in the last few years as we've seen the rise of new silicone hydrogel materials that would also embed a high level of water to keep your eyes fresh. Most manufacturers offer at least one or two products in this fast-growing product category, which the FDA categorizes as V(B) lenses. V(B) lenses are silicone hydrogel (non-ionic) lenses with >50% water.
The chart below classifies major brand contact lenses by oxygen transmissibility (Dk/t) - a measure to indicate how 'breathable' a lens is - and their water content. Also check out our explainer of Dk/t and Dk value.
