Activ-Flo is a moisture maintaining technology in contact lenses developed by Alcon and introduced in November 2024 with the weekly replaceable Precision7 contact lens product line.
Activ-Flo utilizes Serafilcon A, a new silicone hydrogel material specifically designed for a 1-week continuous wearing modality with high oxygen transmissibility (149Dk/t) and two wetting agents, PVP and PEO-PBO. Embedded in the lens matrix is a water-loving PVP-based, permanent moisturizing agent, that makes the lens material wettable and maintains moisture. An additional replenishing agent is continuously released from the core of the lens to the outer surface of the lens.
The unique combination of these two wetting agents and their interaction with the silicone hydrogel material provides sustained moisture on the lens surface and lasting comfort for up to seven days.
