DAILIES TOTAL1 and MyDay Daily Disposable are two daily replaceable silicone hydrogel contact lenses. While DAILIES TOTAL1 is manufactured by Alcon Inc., MyDay Daily Disposable is one of the two daily silicone lenses offered by CooperVision (the other one is Clariti 1 Day). DAILIES TOTAL1 and MyDay Daily were introduced in 2013 and 2015, representing the latest generation of silicone hydrogel lenses.
While MyDay doesn't integrate any wetting agent and instead uses a technology called SmartSilicone to balance oxygen flow and water content, DAILIES TOTAL1's silicone material gets the oxygen transmission value to an astonishing 156 Dk/t using SmarTears. The lens is also slightly stiffer than the MyDay lens which makes it easier when you insert the lens. While DAILIES TOTAL1 doesn't come with UV protection, MyDay lenses offer UVA and UVB blocking. Alcon also implemented a surface moisture technology, which increases the moisture content on the surface but not inside the DAILIES TOTAL1. This contributes to the high breathability of the lens.

Conclusion:
DAILIES TOTAL1 and MyDay Daily Disposable belong to the latest generation of daily replaceable silicone hydrogel lenses that you can get. They are both great lenses with a different technology approach. Alcon focused on getting the water content pushed out to the surface of the lens, where it can interact with the eyelid. CooperVision uses unique silicone channels without the use of a wetting agent decreasing the amount of silicone in the lens to overcome the trade-off between moisture and comfort and softness. The average cost per day is similar and a 90 lens box is $80 - $100. While DAILIES TOTAL1 is also available for presbyopic vision correction, Alcon offers a toric version of MyDay to patients with astigmatism.
