Acuvue Moist versus Clariti 1 Day

1-DAY ACUVUE MOIST and Clariti 1 Day are both daily disposable contact lenses. This means that they are worn for a single day and then disposed of, rather than being worn for an extended period of time and cleaned daily.

Clariti 1 Day are made from a soft, silicone hydrogel material that allows more oxygen to reach the eye than 1-DAY ACUVUE MOIST. 1-DAY ACUVUE MOIST are made from an ionic hydrogel material with a lower Dk/t value when compared to Clariti 1-Day.

The slightly tinted 1-DAY ACUVUE MOIST is produced by Johnson & Johnson Vision, a leading manufacturer of contact lenses and vision care products. First introduced in 2006, it is a daily disposable lens that is designed to provide all-day comfort and moisture for dry, tired eyes. It also has an ultra-smooth surface to reduce friction and improve comfort during wear.

Clariti 1 Day is produced by CooperVision, another major manufacturer of contact lenses. It is also a daily disposable lens that is designed to provide comfortable, clear vision and a healthy wearing experience. It features a higher water content and a thin design to help keep the eyes hydrated and comfortable throughout the day. A 2020 study by CooperVision 1 looked at lens handling, centration, post-blink movement, push up tightness and overall comfort. Clariti 1 Day achieved a 9.1 ranking compared to 1-DAY ACUVUE MOIST with a 8.7 ranking on day 1, and a 9.2 ranking vs a 8.9 ranking on day 5 (daily replacement, measured as a subjective rating of comfort after lens insertion).

1-DAY ACUVUE MOIST and Clariti 1 Day both have some special features that may make them more appealing to certain users.

1-DAY ACUVUE MOIST Features

  • LACREON Technology: This feature helps to create a long-lasting cushion of moisture that keeps the eyes feeling comfortable and refreshed throughout the day.
  • UV Protection: 1-DAY ACUVUE MOIST has a Class 2 UV-blocking agent to help protect the eyes from harmful UVA and UVB rays.

Clariti 1 Day Features

  • AquaGen and Wetloc Technology: This feature helps to keep the eyes hydrated and comfortable by attracting and retaining water within the lens material.
  • Aspheric Optics: These lenses are designed to provide clear, crisp vision by minimizing distortion and glare.
  • Thin Design: Clariti 1 Day lenses are slightly thinner which can help improve comfort during wear.
  • UV Protection:Clariti 1 Day also features Class 2 UV-blocking agent (however with a lower UV-A blocking value than the ACUVUE MOIST)

Modulus: The modulus of a contact lens refers to its stiffness or flexibility. A lens with a high modulus will be more rigid and less flexible, while a lens with a low modulus will be more flexible and softer. Both 1-DAY ACUVUE MOIST and Clariti 1 Day are made from a soft hydrogel material, which means that they have a low modulus and are generally more flexible and comfortable to wear. This soft material allows the lenses to conform to the shape of the eye, providing a comfortable fit and good vision. In comparison, Clariti 1 Day is slightly stiffer than the ACUVUE MOIST, which may make it easier to handle.
